HOIMA, (Examiner) – In Hoima district, Aliker Bethuel Paulpromising a student from Andrea Kabwaa’s College has clinched victory in the prestigious Kingfisher Oilfield drawing competition, orchestrated by CNOOC Uganda Limited.

This event, orchestrated by CNOOC, aimed to shed light on the artistic prowess of Ugandan youth while bolstering awareness surrounding the Kingfisher Project. Under the theme “The beauties of Kingfisher oilfield in your eyes,” secondary school students from Hoima and Kikuube districts came together to express their interpretations of the oilfield through art.

With 30 students from 17 secondary schools participating across Hoima District, Hoima City, and Kikuube District, the competition aimed to not only highlight young talents but also deepen understanding of the Kingfisher Project and its implications. Additionally, it sought to strengthen the bonds between Uganda and China, aligning with shared goals of development and mutual respect.

According to Liu Xiangdong, the president of CNOOC Uganda Limited, this competition underscores the company’s dedication to talent development and green initiatives, contributing positively to the communities in which they operate. The event was graced by Fan Xuecheng, representing the Chinese Embassy in Uganda, emphasizing the strong bilateral ties.

Moreover, Ruganzu Bruno, founder of Ecoart Uganda, provided professional guidance to the participants, enhancing the competition’s significance. Winners were duly rewarded, expressing gratitude to CNOOC Uganda Limited for facilitating such enlightening activities in the oil and gas sector.

Looking ahead, CNOOC Uganda Limited anticipates witnessing further remarkable talents among the youth, fostering a deeper understanding of the Kingfisher Project’s pivotal role in community development.
