Jinja, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Kitara’s unbeaten start to the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League continued with a 2-1 comeback victory over Gaddafi in Jinja.
The Hoima-based Royals had to overcome a halftime deficit, as both teams shared possession evenly in the first half. Gaddafi took the lead in the 34th minute when Thomas Ochungo headed in a cross from Ibrahim Kiyemba, following a corner kick quickly taken by Sharif Ssengendo.
Kitara’s coach, Brian Ssenyondo, made crucial changes at halftime, bringing on Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Kabon Livin for Paul Mucureezi and Brian Aheebwa. Kitara took the lead with 15 minutes remaining, as George Senkaaba connected with Solomon Okwalinga’s cross.
This victory propelled Kitara to the top of the Uganda Premier League table with nine points, while Gaddafi remained at the bottom without a point after three games.
