The Alliance for National Transformation Party has condemned President Museveni’s actions in militarizing the Cabinet and installing his son as Chief of Defence Forces.

At a press conference held at the party headquarters in Bukoto, Kampala, spokespersons Gerald Karuhanga and Kassiano Wadri urged Ugandans to contemplate the task of rebuilding the nation post-Museveni era.

“How prepared are Ugandans to reconstruct this nation and move forward? Museveni’s militarization of the cabinet is cause for concern,” remarked Kassiano Wadiri.

Additionally, the Alliance for National Transformation cast doubts on Muhoozi’s ability to combat corruption, citing instances of lavish birthday celebrations suggesting possible corruption.

“Muhoozi is a military officer. Despite having a standard salary, can it justify the extravagant birthday parties he hosts across different regions? What’s the legitimate source of his funds? Where does the nation stand with such extravagance?” questioned Wadri.

Gerald Karuhanga, the party’s spokesperson, emphasized the failure of parliament in upholding the rule of law.

“The government is now infiltrated by opportunistic individuals and wealthy businessmen who prioritize money over everything else,” asserted Karuhanga.

Furthermore, the party criticized President Museveni’s new cabinet appointments, which contradict his previous pledge to reduce administrative costs.

“This cabinet selection occurs as the government aims to trim down the bloated cabinet of 83 members and lower administrative expenses. However, these appointments are at odds with his earlier commitments,” added Wadiri.
