Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The National Resistance Movement Party Electoral Commission has unveiled the schedule for party structure elections from the village to the district level in 2024.
As outlined in the roadmap, village elections are set for March 11, 2024, parish level on March 18, subcounty level on March 25, municipality leaders on March 28, and district level elections on April 1, 2024.
Addressing the press at the NRM party electoral commission headquarters, Dr. Tanga Odoi, the commission’s chairperson, stated that the early commencement of the process aims to address concerns about insufficient campaign time, a common complaint from party members.
With a budget of Shs 1.3 billion, the elections will employ a lining-up method, known for its cost-effectiveness, simplicity, and transparency.
Odoi emphasized that only individuals in the NRM voters register will be eligible to vote or run for any position, as all voters registers will undergo digitization, ensuring a comprehensive and updated record.
