Mitooma District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) in Mitooma district have been asked to always engage local leaders before implementing any project if they are not to face any sabotage from the community.
Naume Atuhaire from the Ministry of Water and Natural Resources Mbarara office while addressing district councillors and NGO officials in a water and sanitation meeting held at the district headquarters yesterday noted that some NGOs are facing resistance in implementing water projects because they don’t involve local leaders who people trust in.
Speaking during the same meeting, Penlope Arinanye, the Mitooma district vice chairperson noted that there is a need for a good flow of communication in both the NGOs and the technical department to ensure that all stakeholders are easily involved in every project before implementing it.
Allen Atuzarirwe, the Mitooma district community development officer who doubles as the deputy District water officer noted that they are engaging all councillors and other stakeholders on how best to protect the available water sources and implement more where there is a need.
