Works Ministry launches rehabilitation of Mundongo– Nyakiyumbu road in Kasese

The Ministry of Works and Transport-MoWT has launched the rehabilitation of Mundongo – Nyakiyumbu – Munkunyu road in Kasese district.

The rehabilitation works on the 8.3 km stretch will cost 1.2 billion shillings and will be completed in six months.

Eng. Wilson Kafifi, who represented the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Works and Transport, said that the rehabilitation of the roads will improve the connectivity of the local community and facilitate their trade. He asked the local community to embrace the work. He added that there will be no compensation earmarked in case the works inconvenience the public.

Kabyanga Godfrey, the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance is optimistic that the road will contribute to one of the National Development Plan-NDP goals, which is to consolidate and increase the stock and quality of productive infrastructures.

Muhindi Eriphazi the Kasese LCV Chairperson implored the locals to supervise the works to ensure that quality work is executed.    He also asked the contractor to offer employment to the community members.

Isaac Baluku, a resident expressed relief because they have been facing numerous challenges due to the poor state of the road, hindering their day-to-day activities.

Construction works have been handed over to Rotana International Limited.
