KAMPALA, (Examiner) – Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, Secretary General of the NRM, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Asiimwe Joan as she officially joined the ranks of Uganda’s ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party on Tuesday.

Ms. Asiimwe’s transition from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party to the NRM marks a notable shift in her political allegiance, driven by what she described as a misalignment with the FDC’s guiding principles.

Accompanied by Hon. Barnabas Tinkasimire, MP for Buyaga West constituency, and a cohort of local leaders from Kitagwenda and Kamwenge districts, Ms. Asiimwe was formally received at the party’s headquarters situated at Plot 10, Kyadondo Road in Nakasero, Kampala.

Symbolizing her integration into the party, the Secretary-General presented Ms. Asiimwe with the NRM constitution, manifesto, and branded attire, signifying her official induction into the ruling political entity.

In his address, Todwong underscored the NRM’s commitment to addressing collective concerns and fostering unity among Ugandans. He commended Ms. Asiimwe for her decision to align herself with the party’s ethos and urged her to actively participate in its endeavors.

“I congratulate you on your decision to join the NRM. Our party’s strength lies in our collective efforts to address the issues affecting our people. We prioritize unity and focus on matters of national importance,” remarked Todwong.
