Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Ambassador Kintu Nyago, Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa, highlights the concerning issues of land evictions and the commercialization of politics in Uganda, emphasizing their potential harm to the country’s political landscape. He made these remarks while serving as the guest of honor during the 2023 Ignatius Kangave Musaazi Memorial Lecture at the National Theater in Kampala.

Ambassador Nyago believes that, at the age of 61, Uganda should condemn these practices, as the late Musaazi, known for his social conscience, likely would have done. He encourages young people to draw inspiration from Musaazi’s legacy and use politics as a means to address societal issues.

Furthermore, Ambassador Nyago stresses that politics should not be perceived as a tainted pursuit, highlighting how Musaazi used it wisely to challenge colonial rule. He advocates for the involvement of the best individuals from society in politics to achieve better outcomes.
