Following the recent Queen Elizabeth incident, where tourists were attacked, bus operators on the Kasese route have reported passenger anxiety. Link Bus spokesperson Tom Alinde noted that this route, which includes Fort Portal and surrounding areas, has seen a decline in passenger numbers. This includes both tourists using public transportation to reach tourism sites and those using it as a route to Congo.

Alinde mentioned that their company has increased security measures in collaboration with the Kampala Police. He also urged passengers to remain vigilant and follow security precautions while traveling.

In response to the security threat, the Counter-Terrorism Police has provided training to Link Bus staff to help them identify potential security concerns among passengers.

Nelson Ssekandi, the manager of Namayiba Bus Terminal, expressed concerns that this security threat would affect the trade in goods and tourism in the sector. He requested the police to enhance security measures and reassure the public of their safety.

The recent attack in Queen Elizabeth National Park resulted in the loss of three lives, with the assailant burning their vehicle to ashes.
