Before assuming this new role, Mr. Ssenyonyi previously served as the head of the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE).
In response to his appointment, Mr. Ssenyonyi expressed gratitude, stating, “I’m pleased that Mathias Mpuuga has offered to continue guiding me as I embark on this new responsibility [as LoP]. I may not be the most educated or experienced among opposition members. Some may argue that I am not the most deserving to be appointed LoP, but that is the nature of leadership.”
