Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Democratic Party-DP has announced that it will conduct its Delegates’ Conference on April 20, 2024, to choose party members for the upcoming 2026 general elections. Gerald Siranda, the party’s Secretary General, revealed this information during a press briefing held at the party’s headquarters in City House, Kampala.
Siranda further stated that the process for party primaries leading up to the Delegates’ Conference commenced in August this year and is expected to conclude by December 2023. In addition, the DP plans to register new members at the village level and re-register former members who wish to rejoin the party. Siranda emphasized the importance of not missing this registration opportunity.
The decision to hold the Delegates’ Conference early is aimed at preventing the confusion that occurred during the 2021 nominations, which coincided with the general election campaigns.
Furthermore, Siranda extended his congratulations to the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party for successfully organizing its Delegates’ Conference, which he believes has resolved internal conflicts within the party.
