BULIISA, (Examiner) – A devastating fire engulfed a grass-thatched house in Buliisa district, eastern Uganda, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The victims have been identified as Samuel Bieveni, 2, Blessing Ayiyorwoth, 7, and their mother Irene Akutu, 27, all residents of Kamagongoro village in Walukuba parish, Butiaba sub-county.

The incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Wednesday when unknown assailants set the house ablaze. Samuel and Blessing died at the scene, while their mother, Irene, succumbed to her injuries at Buliisa General Hospital.

Fred Kazini, the local council chairperson, reported that residents noticed the flames and rushed to the scene, only to find the house completely engulfed in fire.

Julius Hakiza, spokesperson for the Albertine region police, stated that investigations are underway and urged the public to cooperate with authorities by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible. The bodies of the deceased are currently at the Buliisa General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examinations.
