Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), headquartered in Najjanankumbi, anticipates the participation of more than 1200 delegates in the upcoming National Executive Committee elections scheduled for this week.
Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda, Chairman of the FDC Electoral Commission, conveyed to reporters during a press conference on Monday that the party’s National Executive Committee elections are set to occur on October 6, at the Patidar Samaj Sports Ground in Lugogo. The event is expected to host 1,271 eligible voters.
He specified that voter accreditation, election observers, and other relevant individuals will be processed at the party’s headquarters on Thursday, October 5, between 9 am and 5 pm.
Toterebuka outlined the categories of eligible voters, which include District Chairpersons, General Secretaries, Secretaries for Publicity and Mobilization, Women League Chairpersons, and Youth Secretaries. At the constituency level, Chairpersons and General Secretaries, with one of them being female, have also been invited to participate.
Additionally, he clarified that elections will take place for all vacant positions, and the successful candidates will be expected to serve in accordance with the party’s constitution until the completion of their term in 2028.

Addressing concerns about the impartiality of the electoral process, Toterebuka asserted that his track record is beyond reproach, and he is not susceptible to external influence.
During the same press briefing, John Kikonyogo, the party’s deputy spokesperson, dismissed those who opposed the electoral process and even threatened to take legal action against the Chairman of the party’s electoral commission. He assured that if they were unable to locate Toterebuka to serve him with court documents, he would make himself available for the purpose.
The FDC has experienced internal strife following allegations that some top leaders of the party accepted funds from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This disagreement has led to a division within the party, with the Katonga faction holding an extraordinary delegates’ conference that suspended both Amuriat and Nandala from their positions as president and secretary-general, respectively.
